Dr. Borkowicz has been developing physical education and health education curricula for over 30 years. He started with the development of K-8 programs, then developed a variety of high school programs, and finally was asked to develop a number of courses at the university level for future physical education and health education teachers as well as future athletic trainers.
The various educational programs and courses that Dr. Borkowicz has developed were well-received by the students as well as their parents, school administrators and other teachers. Soon teachers from around the country were requesting copies of the various curricula for their own school district.
In 1997, Dr. Borkowicz received the Christa McAuliffe Fellowship Award. This award allowed him to spend one year traveling around the country to visit schools that were recognized for having outstanding physical education and health education programs. Since then, he has shared this information with teachers by way of speaking at national and state teacher conventions.
Listed below are just some of the awards and recognition that Dr. Borkowicz has received for the various educational programs and resources he has developed during his 35 years of teaching. Nominations for these awards came from fellow teachers, school administrators, parents and even students. Dr. Borkowicz feels that the credit for these awards should really go to all of the teachers that he has taught with or observed teaching. He states “From the very beginning, I learned a lot by working with or observing my fellow teaches. From team-teaching to observing the teachers of your own children, you cannot help but be influenced by the excellence of other educators.”
